Kelewele – Spicy Ripe Plantains

A traditional dish in Ghana and one of our favourite things to make. Perfect to pair with savory dishes like ackee, just a quick delicious snack, or as finger food for guests. The ingredients are easy to find and prep time super quick.
Check out this recipe:
4-6 ripe plantains cut in bite-size bits
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger peeled and grated
1 teaspoon sea salt
Coconut oil or grapeseed oil for grilling
1. Grind ginger pepper sea salt together (add a tiny drop of coconut oil)
2. In a silver bowl mix plantain with spices
3. Place oil on grill spread evenly over a surface
4. Place each bite of plantain on the surface for about a minute or until golden brown
5. Flip and do the same procedure to the other side
6. Drain on napkin
7. Serve
